Position Overview:

Exciting summer or summer and fall internship opportunity to work in the tax department at Masco Corporate offices located in Livonia, Michigan.  This internship provides a great learning experience in the area of multi-state taxation.  You will work closing with the state tax accountants on various returns and credits, maintaining and updating tax implication through proper research and documentation and accurately preparing state and local corporate income and franchise tax returns from start to finish.

Hiring Requirement:

The student must be able to provide a current transcript (unofficial) indicating he/she is an enrolled student at the college/university they are currently attending.  The student must be considered an enrolled student during their entire internship at Masco.

May 2020 – August 2020

Potential to extend September 2020 – December 2020

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Research and document state and local tax laws using CCH/RIA
  • Assemble and reference returns with related work papers
  • Effectively and professionally communicate both orally and in writing with accountants at various Business Units to gather required financial information
  • Preparation of various state tax credits
  • Analyze federal data for state adjustments
  • Prepare electronic work papers (using Adobe Acrobat (pdf)) to document and support all calculations performed
  • Utilize information technology tools (Excel, SAP, etc.) to work efficiently and meet all deadlines
  • Manual filing and electronics filing of completed tax returns

    Skill Requirements:

  • Must have completed introductory coursework in accounting
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for working with compliance issues
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work as a team member
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel
  • School and/or work experience of Microsoft Office products
  • Analytical problem-solving abilities
  • An interest in their performance and job duties
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Overall GPA of 2.8 or higher
  • Major GPA of 3.0 or higher
