Milgard Windows & Doors, headquartered in Tacoma, Washington, and nationally recognized as the leading manufacturer of windows and doors in the Western United States, has just created a new position for a Packaging Engineer in our Corporate Headquarters. This opportunity is for the individual who wants challenge and to be part of a growing, expanding successful company.

The Packaging Engineer will design, test and implements packaging designs that are an integral part of Milgard’s Product development process.

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee complete packaging development process, including the creation of packaging designs, prototype development and performance testing.
  • Investigate root cause of new and existing packaging problems involving designs, materials and processes and provide creative, timely and cost-effective solutions.
  • Analyze engineering drawings and specifications of products to determine physical characteristics of an item, special handling, environmental and safety requirements and types of materials required for packaging.
  • Be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Identify and implement cost saving initiatives related to packaging materials, labor efficiency, transportation, storage and disposal.
  • Work with manufacturing to ensure that the packaging designs are optimized for manufacturability.

A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Packing Engineering is preferred. Must have 5+ years of experience in creating and designing industrial or consumer packaging. Experience with 3D Cad software such as Solidworks is needed.
