Job Scope

Key consumer and customer expert for New Business Development.  Identifies and analyzes new opportunities for profitable growth and profit improvements supporting Liberty’s Annual and Long-Range Plans beyond Liberty’s core categories.

Develops innovative product lines and platforms utilizing market requirements and consumer insights to Identifying category white space.  Leads ideation sessions and develops concepts for testing.  Establishes product assortment, price points, features and benefits, and communication guidelines while aligning with brand and category strategy. 

Responsible for the development and execution of marketing plans and budgets inclusive of in-store displays, planograms, point of sale signage, promotional strategy and omni-channel strategy.

Continues as the subject matter expert and champion for their assigned new categories and product platforms, including analytics and project refinements, until the category reaches sales and profitability requirements to transition to the Core Marketing Team.   

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Development

  • Partner with internal Marketing Research to perform market research assessing revenue and profit potential, identifying consumer and customer insights needed to develop opportunity-specific marketing strategies and plans.
  • Synthesize the insights, trends and opportunities into new platforms for competition that lead to growth in new channels and geographies.
  • Lead new business development initiatives utilizing the Stage Gate Process to bring meaningful innovation to the product line or category.
  • Conduct data analytics, gap analyses and competitive and consumer insights research and leverage into profitable growth strategies and plans
  • Proactively grow and optimize performance of assigned product(s) to deliver against department P&L. Proactively adjust campaigns, activities and priorities as appropriate to ensure P&L plan is met.

Customer and Consumer Marketing

  • Establish customer and consumer requirements, specifications and standards
  • Work cross functionally to assess risk associated with new programs and develop test plans and timetables for commercializing new programs
  • Lead the product and customer roadmap process, conceptualization, research and competitive analysis
  • Develop product and packaging strategy, design briefs, graphic creative briefs and pricing strategies for products.  Finalize pricing approach with Finance and Sales.
  • Develop and execute compelling consumer marketing plan for channels/categories Develop value propositions, positioning and messaging for a group of products and associated marketing campaigns
  • Manage product lifecycle and roadmap, including conceptualization and research, competitive analysis, pricing, product design, packaging and graphics communications through steady state.
  • Ensure all marketing activities are consistent with brand equity strategy established by Category Directors
  • Manage the planning and execution of product line or business reviews as requested by the customer

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Align with Sales on strategic priorities
  • Support the Core Product teams with Type A innovation that meets their category requirements and leverages their portfolio strategy.
  • Leverage the Digital Team’s capabilities with on-line and omni-channel launches

  • Work with supply chain on developing the supply chain roadmap

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Business or Marketing
  • 5-10 years business or marketing experience
  • Experience working in a channel or product marketing role with P&L responsibilities
  • Experience managing consumer goods or building products preferred
  • Experience in new business development a plus
