JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the administration and reporting requirements for safety management system, and environmental and workers health policies.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

•         Manage and maintain all locally written safety and environmental quality programs and training records to ensure achievement of plant safety metrics and regulatory compliance.

•         Provide guidance and conduct safety meetings to improve internal safety processes.

•         Lead work place accident and injury investigations to determine root cause and ensure corrective actions are assigned and completed.

•         Maintain and administer open worker’s compensation claims in consultation with Human Resources.

•         Draft preventative health and safety communications articles for weekly publication.

•         Research and assist with implementation activities to establish best practices in work place safety and environmental quality programs.

•         Develop, analyze and provide recommendations on safety and environmental data for management review.

•         Perform audits and maintain OSHA 300 log in compliance with federal, state and local health and safety regulations.

•         Manager ISO 140001 qualifications and standards in compliance with regulatory standards.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

•         Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial hygiene, or related field; or 8 years health, safety and/or environment experience in a manufacturing environment with a minimum of a High School diploma or GED.

•         3 years health, safety and/or environmental quality experience in a manufacturing environment.

•         Knowledge of OSHA laws and procedures.

•         Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation laws and procedures.

•         Proficient computer skills required including Microsoft Office Suite.

•         Demonstrated successful ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively with cross-functional business teams.

•         Excellent organizational skills, including ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.

•         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

•         Completed OSHA training courses.

•         Certified Safety Professional (CSP).

•         Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) certification.

•         Fundamental knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen activities and Six Sigma processes.

•         Experience with ISO management system principles.

•         Experience with OSHA Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP).
