POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Product Management will be responsible to drive revenue and profitability growth through development of product, marketing and pricing strategies and through product lifecycle management. Responsible for managing a team of Product Managers and all aspects of the product family, including strategy development, business planning, new product development, gaining cross functional alignment and driving the commercialization of the business plan. Act with an entrepreneurial spirit and manage the product family with a GM mindset. This role requires strong strategic thinking, strong leadership skills and B2B experience. The Product Management Director will develop a deep understanding of the market including trends, customer needs, product applications, and competitors. Collaborate with Sales to gain a deeper understanding of end-users’ product needs by customer segment; ensure product needs are being met and gain insights on unmet needs. Partner with Manufacturing and Supply Chain on value engineering opportunities.

This individual will be required to utilize that market knowledge to identify growth opportunities and develop winning strategies. Effectively communicate with key internal stakeholders and influence other functional teams such as Sales, Operations, Marketing, and Engineering among others. This position will be accountable for achieving annual revenue and profit targets and developing a strong team of Product Managers.

This position is designed to provide BMC with strategic direction as it relates to the management and expansion of product offering in the market. The person in this role will lead discovery of these opportunities as well as leading the development of business proposals for approval by the Executive leadership team. The role will work with key customers, suppliers, potential suppliers, research firms, and internally with all functions.

This position reports to the Vice President, Marketing & Product Development. Reporting to this position are Product Managers responsible for multiple categories.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage Product Management team that is responsible for product life-cycle management, including development and execution of product rationalization
  • Responsible for product positioning for product category
  • Deep understanding of market dynamics including competition, customers, market trends, supplier offerings, and new technologies.
  • Will work closely with customers & suppliers to research and document needs as well as understand the various applications
  • Responsible for leading team through the development and execution of BMC’s product strategy and product roadmap to drive increased revenue
  • Conduct regular voice of the market research to generate new product ideas and detailed product requirements for new product line offerings
  • Develop and implement growth strategies based on market needs in efforts to increase BMC’s share within specific product categories
  • Partner with Channel Marketing to update and develop collateral & tools to drive increased business; develop promotions, campaigns, and brand awareness of BMC offerings
  • Responsible for understanding competitive pricing / portfolio while developing a price strategy for new offerings as well as managing annual price adjustments for BMC product lines

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Marketing
  • Minimum 10 years of professional work experience with an emphasis in Product Management
  • Experience leading, coaching and developing direct reports
  • Experience working cross-functionally in a highly collaborative environment closely with Operations, Engineering and Supply Chain on continuous improvement initiatives
  • Knowledge of P&L and financial statements
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MBA specialized in Marketing
  • Home Improvement and/or Building Materials product experience
