Under the direction of the Machine Shop Manager perform set ups and operate various CNC Mills, Lathes and manual machines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work from blue prints, job routings and tooling instructions to hold close tolerances.
  • Computer skills to transfer programs to a variety of CNC machines.
  • Inspect parts to print including both dimensional and visual requirements.
  • Complete all required documentation for the job including part measurements and shop floor paperwork.
  • Train and mentor less experienced machinists, especially on machine setup.
  • Must be able to run more than one machine where cycle time permits.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Strong math and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to change tools, adjust heights and tool comps
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency with hand measuring tools and inspection equipment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills

PLUSES:

  • Experience with Brother, Haas, and Mazak controls
  • Experience writing or editing machine programs
  • Must possess a minimum of 3 years CNC mill and lathe experience

PHYSICAL DEMAND

  • Standing and walking throughout the day
  • Handling metal parts with machining coolant
  • Work in different areas, within the shop, on different equipment (manual, CNC, etc.)
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. with or without assistance

WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT

•Exposure to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes, cold and heat.

  • Fast paced
  • Machine Shop environment

•Wear common protective or Safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection.
