POSITION SUMMARY:

The vision for this role is to learn and support purchasing and supply chain functions in a growing capacity. The successful candidate would start as a support function and evolve to take on more accountability in this role from year to year.   Once performance has been validated, the goal would be progression to a different position with more responsibility, potentially in another cross function, in a 2 to 3-year time frame

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support purchasing team members in New Product Introduction projects
  • Support Buyers with cost / pricing objectives
  • Support RFQ activities to secure capacity, pricing and leverage new volumes also including comparison analysis for sourcing recommendation
  • Support both preparation and actively partake in negotiations with suppliers
  • Support development of category strategies working with lead buyers.
  • Support negotiation with suppliers and logistics parameters for keeping optimal cost level and support to drive down net working capital
  • Support supplier selection initiatives, analysis and coordination
  • Support purchasing on Accounts Payable activity as required
  • Special projects may be assigned from time to time.
  • Monitors and analyzes MRP system data to determine when replenishment orders need to be placed; processes and approves replenishment orders with approved suppliers; reviews the forecasts for finished good products to check the validity of the forecast
  • Expedites (pulls in) or pushes out delivery dates based on customer demand
  • Contacts vendors/suppliers to follow up on past-due purchase orders, finalize new estimated times of arrival, and ensure on-time delivery
  • Communicates with Lead Buyer and Purchasing management on vendors concerns, overall performance, and other relevant information to ensure vendors are meeting requirements
  • Maintains the enterprise resource planning system regarding supplier info and ordering.
  • Support supply chain with root cause analysis on stock outages and related issues; and provides reports to Supply chain and/or management for such occurrences with corrective action recommendations
  • Complies with company policies; work rules; safety requirements; quality standards; and applicable local, state, and federal legislation
  • Performs other related duties as needed and assigned

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or Engineering
